Ultra wideband (UWB) low band is a candidate of the frequency band in implant body area networks (BAN), where reliable communication links should be established from inside to outside of a human body.
UWB communication can accomplish low power and high data rate because of its wide frequency band.
However, due to the use of several GHz frequencies, the UWB signals suffer from large attenuation on an implant communication link, which makes it difficult to achieve reliable communication.
Therefore, in this paper, with the aid of easy miniatualization of antenna, we designed a diversity antenna for the implant UWB communication.
Then, we evaluated the path loss characteristics through a living animal experiment and demonstrated the communication performance improvement with the transmit-receive diversity system. |
