Non-Local Spin Valve Sensor using Spin Accumulation Effect for Hard Disk Drive Reader

(in English) A tri-magnetic terminals structure based non-local spin valves (TMSV) which has dual injector with anti-parallel pined configurations, and detector which measuring the voltage between the free layer and the one side pined layer instead of non-magnetic layer was proposed. The output of TMSV was calculated three-dimensional model by using a finite-element-method (FEM) with spin diffusion equation. The injector area dependence is also calculated. And the structural merits of this system are also discussed. TMSV can obtain 2.4 times larger output than conventional NLSVs of four terminals structure by suppress a spin diffuse in non-magnetic layer and increase a spin accumulation by dual-pin junctions. Eventually, it can obtain 3.7 times larger output than conventional structure by increase current junction area, which output is as same as about 80 % of the conventional (not lateral) spin valves structure. It indicates TMSV is promising for read head sensor which recording densities achieve to 2 Tbits/inch2.
