This paper proposes the assignment algorithm of an elevator in rush hours and inspects the reduction of passengers' waiting time. Buildings are getting higher in recent years, so elevators are indispensable as a transportation in buildings. %There are many researches about the elevator control system in rush hours because it is especially hard to control elevators efficiently. Cameras are set up in various places, and it is low in cost and becomes easily to observe peoples and count the accurate number of them. Then, this research is assumed that the number of waiting people at an elevator hall and passengers in an elevator can be presumed from a camera picture, and proposes the method to change the assigning cars according to these information. This paper proposes the assignment algorithm for elevator control in rush hours to reduce passengers' waiting time by using the estimated numbers of passengers. Many tower buildings in which elevators are indispensable are used for many purposes such as not only offices and hotels but also shopping buildings, Universities and public services (e.g., museums, city hall, and theaters). Elevators in tower buildings become very busy during specific time such as start and end time of office hour, lectures, and theater events. On the other hand, many cameras are set up in various places for security and crowd control reasons. In addition, recent advance in computer technology makes easier and low-cost to estimate the number of peoples in specific areas. Thus, in this study, we try to control elevators efficiently by estimating the numbers of waiting people at elevator halls and passengers in elevator cars via cameras. We experimentally show that our algorithm can reduce average waiting time and improve operating rates of cars by comparing those by the conventional method. |
