This paper presents an implementation technique to split a traffic in OpenFlow networks using a meter table. In this technique, a different differentiated services code point (DSCP) value, which is generally used to classify network traffic for quality of service (QoS) levels, is used as a decision to split the traffic. A meter table, which includes in the OpenFlow standard from version 1.3, measures a traffic rate. Once a rate of packets exceeds a predefined traffic rate, the DSCP value of the exceeded packets is modified. The packets with different DSCP number are forwarded to the neighbor switches with different output ports. |
