Relation between Magnetic Flux and Magnetic Resonant Coupling
Takehiro Imura (The Univ. of Tokyo) WPT2016-9
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Nowadays, the expectations for wireless power transfer via magnetic resonant coupling are increasing. Recently, the conditions of magnetic resonant coupling via electromagnetic induction have been shown by comparison of circuit topologies. However, the relationship between magnetic flux and circuit topologies is still unclear and consequently an accurate understanding is yet to be achieved. Currently, efficiency and power are considered and handled together merely because the magnetic resonant coupling generates large magnetic flux by resonance. However, simply producing a large magnetic flux does not always provide high efficiency and high power. The meanings of primary side magnetic flux and secondary side magnetic flux are distinctly separate, therefore accurately showing the characteristics of each circuit topology is necessary. In this paper, considering the point of view of magnetic flux, the comparison of circuit topologies and the characteristics between magnetic resonant coupling and other circuit topologies are summarized. Moreover, the relationship between power, efficiency and magnetic flux is proposed. Theoretical validation is achieved through electromagnetic field analysis and experiment.
