[Requested Talk] Future business ecosystem for mobile communications in the changing spectrum regulatory environment

This presentation will build upon the recent developments in the spectrum regulatory environment occurring globally and outline the paths towards increased spectrum sharing and flexibility in the mobile communication business. As spectrum sharing is an interplay between regulation, business and technology domains, this presentation will discuss their interrelations. In particular, it will discuss and depict the future business ecosystem around mobile communications taking into account the foreseen changes in the spectrum regulation. The presentation will identify the stakeholders and their roles in the future business ecosystem around mobile communication. With the trends towards higher carrier frequencies and smaller cells and the significant technology development for more sharing-based networks, the future business ecosystem is foreseen to offer new opportunities for the different stakeholders. Finally based on the lessons learnt from on-going regulatory developments, future directions for the development of new spectrum sharing regulatory models are suggested. |
