[Poster Presentation] Virtual Extrapolation of Microphone Array Length for Two Sound Sources Visualization

(in English) The visualization of sound fields is an important task in many practical applications.
The MUltiple SIgnal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm and acoustic holography (AH) use a microphone array for estimating sound source positions or visualizing sound fields.
%In general, a microphone array is used to visualize sound fields.
However, the efficiency and performance of any method depends on the length of the microphone array (aperture length) or the number of microphones.
In this paper, we propose a method to virtually extrapolate the length of a microphone array using an estimation of sound source position and its magnitude based on the microphone input signals' phase components.
We also propose an active frequency selection method to visualize the sound source more clearly.
We conducted experiments of sound field visualization considering the depth direction using the inverse propagation method of one-dimensional near-field acoustic holography (NAH) to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.
We used a microphone array with 24 microphones and extrapolated the signals virtually as if they had been observed with 40 microphones.
The experimental results show that the proposed method can obtain more accurate sound pressure information and more precise sound source localization, especially for two or more sound sources.
