[Poster Presentation] A Control Method of Adaptive Filters Using Past Input Signals and Filter Coefficients

(in English) Double talk situation makes an adaptive filter mistake the estimation
of an echo pass (a transfer function) and the performance get much lower.
Therefore, during double talk, the learning of the adaptive filters
should be stopped.
Echo canceller with two filters is an example of conventional method
to solve this problem. One filter called BackGround(BG) filter always
learn the echo passes even during double talk, and the other filter called
ForeGround(FG) filter gradually gets coefficients of the BG filter in
order to avoid sudden changes of coefficients.
Echo is reduced by FG filter, so the
mismatch is low. However, this method has slow convergence.
We proposed a new control method of adaptive filters by objecting
echo return loss (ERL). In our proposed method one filter which has
larger ERL value is selected.
We also conducted the some simulations and
showed our proposal results are better than conventional methods.
