Reconsideration of Fail-Stop Signature Schemes and Their UC-Security

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Fail-Stop Signature (FSS) schemes [1],[2] are signature schemes which satisfy unforgeability even against a forger with super-polynomial computational power and non-repudiability against a dishonest signer with polynomially-bounded computational power. To use FSS schemes ''safely'' in a large system, it must be shown that they satisfy the UC {small(Universally Composable)}-security [3]. However, there exists a problem that it is difficult to decide the computational power of an adversary in the UC-security since the computational power of a forger is different from that of a dishonest signer. To solve the problem, the authors [4] have proposed a framework with TTP {small (Trusted Third Party)}, but it is not so logical framework since there isn't any dishonest signer there by TTP. In this paper, the authors construct a new framework where there exist a forger and a dishonest signer with polynomially-bounded computational power, but the forger can get (limited) super-polynomial computational power by a helper functionality. Then the authors construct an FSS scheme which satisfies the UC-security under some conditions.
