| (in English) | Today, vehicles and road infrastructures become highly functional because of development of sensor technologies and wireless communication technologies. How to manage traffic data obtained from them is quite important to achieve advanced driving assistance and autonomous driving. We have been developing Road-Traffic Dynamic Map, which is a system for management of traffic data. But, raw data from sensors are not suitable to use in our system. When a vehicle is detected by a camera on a roadside, a unique and traceable ID must be required. Without IDs, tracing and predicting trajectories of vehicles are difficult. In this paper, we propose a vehicle tracking framework for infrastructure cameras. Thinking of various types of sensors in our system, the proposed framework consists of two steps: (1) local tracking which is operated in each sensors, (2) global tracking which integrates results from several sensors. Local tracking is based on an existing tracking algorithm, and it finds matching pairs of vehicles newly detected and vehicles already identified. In global tracking, global IDs are given to vehicles by considering results from local tracking. Our framework tracks not only vehicles but also empty areas not occupied by anyone, because empty areas are as important as vehicles for safety driving. | |
