We analyzed a 2.45 GHz voltage-doubler-type rectenna, in which Schottky diodes are mounted both in series and in shunt at the feeding point of a half-wave dipole antenna. The rf-dc conversion efficiency of the voltage-doubler-type rectenna was improved compared with a half-wave-rectification-type rectenna. This improvement is caused by charge conservation in the junction capacitance and package capacitance of the series-connected diode during the reverse bias state. This paper describes a voltage-doubler-type rectenna behavior via prototype rectenna measurements and circuit simulations. |
