| (in English) | Kyushu Institute of Technology has been conducting research on Mars flight exploration flight system utilizing microwave power transmission. This study aims at design, prototype production and performance tests of a small unmanned aerial vehicle. The performance of rectenna, propulsion system, and aircraft were tested in the anechoic radio wave chamber of A-METLAB at RISH (Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere) of Kyoto University. Firstly, the aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft was calculated by the gliding flight test. The requiring electric power for flight was estimated based on the aerodynamic characteristics. The effect of aerodynamic characteristic was evaluated by gliding with rectenna array. Finally, powered flight using microwave power transmission was conducted succeessfully. Based on the results, the design method of the microwave powered aircraft was studied. | |
