This paper presents a novel fingerprint-based localization technique which can support the harsh conditions of localizing unknown radio emitters in dense urban environments. The cross-correlation of the channel impulse responses between several Rx sensors are utilized as location fingerprints, and they are interpolated in the bandwidth, frequency and spatial domains before pattern matching is performed. The proposed technique does not require a priori information of the unknown emitter during the training phase. Ray-tracing simulations were utilized to evaluate localization accuracy in an urban environment modeled after the Shinjuku city area, and results indicated that the proposed technique could achieve high localization accuracy, and is robust against a wide range of parameters. |
