An Extension of Update Method without Decompression for Compressed Structured Documents and Its Experimental Evaluation

(in English) XML is a {it de facto} standard for data storage and exchange, and various compression methods for XML documents have been proposed.Among them, compression methods based on tree grammar have the advantage that a compressed document can be directly scanned.We proposed a method for updating an XML document compressed by a tree grammar SLCFTG without uncompressing the document.This paper extends our previous method so that update positions can be specified by a deterministic selecting top-down tree automata with bottom-up look-ahead, and also improves the implementation of update operations.We show the effectiveness of our proposed method based on the experimental results conducted for benchmark XML documents including DBLP.
