In the next generation (5G) mobile base station antennas, multi beam and wideband characteristics are requested in addition to present low sidelobe characteristics. For the combination of wideband and low sidelobe characteristics, an array configuration of a density tapered array may be promising. Because of unequally element spacing, grating lobe reduction at higher frequency band in multiple frequency operations may be expected. In this paper, radiation characteristics in wide frequency bands are studied. Array configuration of 30 elements is employed for four types of density tapered situations. Simulation frequencies of 900 MHz, 1500 MHz, 2000 MHz and 2500 MHz are used in a commercial electromagnetic simulator FEKO. A lot of data of sidelobe, antenna gain and grating lobe characteristic are clarified |
