In this paper, a radiation pattern reconfigurable dipole antenna is proposed for WiMax Applications. The antenna consists of dipole elements connected together using five PIN diodes. A surface reflective structure is integrated under the substrate of antenna for antenna gain enhancement. The five PIN diodes are placed on the radiation patch for the aim of achieving radiation pattern re-configurability. Based on the switching state of the PIN diode, the radiation pattern of the proposed antenna can be reconfigured into three modes. In these three modes, the antenna works in 3.5 GHz frequency band with gain up to 7.6 dBi. The proposed antenna is designed, fabricated on FR4 substrate, simulated using CST software and has dimensions of 25 mm x 60 mm x 80mm. |
