Evaluation of Loss Ratio Simulation Method Using Statistical Techniques for MMPP/M/1/K queue (1 of 2) -- Detailed Description of the Proposed Method --

(in English) In network planning and operation of multicasting video stream, it is very important to grasp the characteristics of packet loss against traffic form and buffer size. Monte Carlo simulation is one of the effective methods to do it. However, it is not clear when the simulation should be stopped to get loss ratio. A new simulation method of loss ratio using statistical techniques is proposed and evaluation results for MMPP/D/1/K queue are reported at reference [21]. The simulation is stopped automatically when the χ2-statistic is less than or equal to critical level, and the loss ratio is calculated from the number of losses. The parameters to calculate the χ2-statistic are also proposed to reduce calculation time. In this first part, the proposed method is described in detail. Evaluation results for MMPP/M/1/K are reported in the second part.
