Single Image Haze Removal using Priors of Light Transmissions based on Composition of Landscape Pictures with Near Object Handling

(in English) We propose a method for haze removal from a single color image. Inferring a transmission of light is important in haze removal. Once the transmission of a light is obtained, image enhancement of a hazy image can be performed. In white-colored regions of objects, however, previous methods are difficult to optimally estimate the transmission of light. To address the problem, recent researches have shown the effectiveness of exploiting a prior regarding the changes in the transmission of a light based on a geometry in a scenic image. This prior is based on the fact that the transmission of light tends to decrease along with the upper direction in the scenic image. However, when objects that are located near the camera are observed in the upper regions in the image, the prior of a scenic image would fail an optimal estimation of the transmission of a light. To address this problem, we detect regions of objects that are observed near the camera from an input image. Using this detection responses, we perform estimating the transmission of a light based on a geometric prior of a scenic image. Our experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
