[Invited Talk] Development of a Wearable Heart-Rate Variability Sensor and Apprication to Clinical and Health Care -- Prediction of Epileptic Seizures and Drowsy Driving Accidents --

(in English) Heart rate variability (HRV) reflects autonomic nerve activity and provides beneficial information for both clinical and healthcare diagnoses. A telemetry system for the measurement of HRV has been developed with a low-cost manufacturing process and a low-power consumption design. All the components and functions for the measurement were implemented on a wearable telemeter which has a function for automated calibration of various ECG amplitudes among the subjects, and the obtained data is stored into a smartphone via a Bluetooth wireless transmission. The measurement accuracy and reliability of the system are reviewed in this talk, and the preliminary results of the application to the clinical and healthcare purposes: the prediction of epileptic seizures and drowsy driving are explained.
