Demands for indoor-positioning or indoor-navigation are increasing in many fields such as marketing, shopping, industries, and anticrime applications recently. In this research, indoor-positioning method using IR-UWB (Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband) is investigated. This method adopts TOA (Time of Arrival) distance surveying, and it has high precision compared to other positioning methods such as Wi-Fi positioning, IMES (Indoor MEssaging System), and iBeacon. In this paper, we illustrate configuration of IR-UWB positioning and characteristics. Then, we analyze the variation of positioning variance and positioning accuracy when the number of base stations is changed. Experiment was carried out in an exhibition hall where the IR-UWB positioning system was deployed for demonstration purpose. Finally, we describe future plans of practical applications. |
