Radiation Characteristics of Microstrip Line Antenna Supported by Dielectric Pieces in UHF Frequency Bands

(in English) Generally, small-sized antennas are needed for specified low-power radios. Because antennas were usually placed on the neighborhood of metal surfaces such as housings and ground planes, the performance of the microstrip line antenna which consisted of radiation element being set on the surface 10 mm away from the ground plane and dielectric pieces was calculated using electro-magnetic simulator to realize a low profile antenna at UHF bands. The optimum feeding point and the number of dielectric pieces were considered to improve the gain and to reduce the reflection at the center frequency of the antenna. The antenna was practically made and measured. And the results were compared in this paper.
