Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Faces play an important role in all facets of human communication, even in human-machine communications. Thus, creating clearly distinguishable and natural-looking facial expressions on a computer generated avatar face by properly transforming the novel neutral face has been an important technical issue in face image generation. Transforming the parameters representing the input face under the morphable face model by affecting the impression transfer vector to the original parameters was proved to be one of the promising approaches to solve this problem. With this approach, a new method was proposed to obtain the impression transfer vector using Support Vector Machine learning, and was tested on impression transformation of 3D faces. However, the number of 3D face samples used in the testing was rather limited and the images were not necessarily good in quality. In this work, therefore, we intended to apply the impression transfer vector defined by the SVM learning separately on the shape and texture information of 2D face images, and test validity of the proposed scheme in impression transformation of faces.
