Does the free-hand drawing improve the productivity of creative thinking? What kind of influence does it have on the quality of generated ideas? To examine these issues, we conducted an experiment that the subjects were asked to produce a new children’s game from the combination of well-known games with and without drawing support. In the first idea assembly phase, the subjects generated ideas freely. In the second fair copy phase, the subjects selected the best idea in their mind and wrote it out. The main results are as follows. In the first assembly phase, more ideas were produced without drawing support than with. However, most subjects replied that it was easier to produce with drawing support subjectively. 5 judges independently rated the generated ideas in four terms of complexity, novelty, usefulness, and interest. And we found that the games produced with drawing were more complex and interesting. |
