Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Although a video-phone system is a powerful communication tool, there still has something to solve such as privacy. One may not want to show her/his native face or a dirty room to a remote side. She/he also feels sorry if she/he cannot answer the phone call when she/he is busy. In this paper, we propose a video-phone connection procedure using an agent. The proposed procedures using a character agent which stands for third party and an avatar agent which stands for her/himself were compared with the existing ring tone procedure. Questionnaire survey from young and elderly generations revealed the effectiveness of each procedure. The agent in this procedure was expected to work for arrangement of their schedule at the beginning of the video communication. The proposed procedure by the character agent reduces the burden of concern for privacy.
