Preliminary Results of Interleaving Technology for All-Optical Analog-to-Digital Converter using Soliton Self-Frequency Shift

(in English) All-optical analog-to-digital conversion technique becomes important to achieve high effective number of bits as well as high-sampling rate for optical communication systems mainly due to smaller timing jitter than electronic one. So far, we have investigated high speed operating performance of all-optical AD converter based on quantization with soliton self-frequency shift. Further high speed sampling rate, interleaving function is one of the significant schemes that the electronic AD converter has already introduced. However, the optimized architecture and the operating performance have not been reported precisely.
In this report, interleaving function for SSFS all-optical AD converter at a sampling rate of 10 and 40GS/s will be presented. As for 10GS/s case, combination of interleaving function with SSFS quantization scheme has been achieved. In addition, a silicon photonic interleaver for further high sampling rate operation was investigated, and the preliminary experimental results will be demonstrated.
