Attitude determination and control system (ADCS) is one of the most important sub-systems of the satellite in charge of functions to determine current attitude using sensors and control desired orientation using actuators. In order to do these functions, design of ADCS needs to meet high performance requirements. Due to the different between space and ground environment, verification is a challenge for developers to test performances of embedded software, algorithms and control laws of ADCS in laboratory conditions. Recently, there are many approaches to do this verification in space organizations around the world. In Vietnam, Vietnam National Satellite Center is implementing a project to make an ADCS simulator for micro-satellite class. This simulator is designed to create three main conditions Zero gravity, Earth magnetic field and Sun direction that satellite will meet during operation into the space. In this project, the software named Platform of ADCS Simulator Software (PASS) has been built on LabVIEW programming language in order to simulate and control the simulator. PASS consists of two main modules that are processor-in-the-loop (PIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL). PASS-PIL is designed to verify attitude algorithms and software functions though the interaction between space environmental models in the computer and embedded algorithms in the microcontroller. In PASS-PIL, the space environment and satellite models such as kinematic and dynamics, sensors, Almanac, IGRF-12 and SGP4 have been developed. PASS-HIL is in charge of operational control functions for Zero gravity, Earth magnetic field and Sun direction simulators that provide an end-to-end testing environment for attitude control. In this paper, the design of PASS is explained and the results of PASS software development are described. |
