| (in English) | Some people are working on negative impedance converters (NICs) to generate Non-Foster reactance, that is, negative capacitance or negative inductance. Since operational amplifiers (op-amp) have differential behavior, if any circuits or elements are connected symmetrically to the reverse and non-reverse inputs of op-amps, the their influence can be neglected from the circuit equation, leading to making chances to design a variety of op-amp-based NIC circuits. However, it is also true that many of them do not work as it was designed theoretically. This report shows theoretically that such an unexpected behavior of the NIC can happen because of poor gain-bandwidth product (GB-product) and voltage amplification ratio of the amplifiers used for the NIC. In addition, it should be noted that the selection of appropriate resistors connected to the amplifier is also very important. Based on these arguments, a newly designed NIC, composed of an op-amp OPA-690 produced by Texas Instruments, is demonstrated experimentally and then the negative capacitance is generated successfully from 40 MHz to 160 MHz. | |
