(in English) The cracks on an optical fiber surface can grow with time and eventually lead to fiber breakage. We have investigated brittle and fatigue fracture characteristics of single-mode fibers caused by various cracks. We have also developed a new method and tool for inspecting the cracks on optical fibers.
