Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In the fifth generation mobile communication systems, applications of a massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system have been considered in high frequency bands. In the massive MIMO system, the installation space of the antenna array becomes a problem because of applying a large number of antenna elements to a base station. To cope with this problem, Full-Dimension MIMO (FD-MIMO) system, in which antenna elements are arranged in two dimensions has been proposed. The FD-MIMO system suppresses the expansion of the installation space because we can employ the two dimensions. In addition, 3D beamforming can be available, so we realize better user separation.
In this paper, we generate channel matrices between a transmitter and receivers by using a ray tracing technique and then evaluate the performance of the FD-MIMO systems in an indoor environment considering user density.
It has been shown that when user density is large, FD-MIMO systems are much superior to a conventional 1D array.
