Recently, the five-generation mobile communication system (5G) has been widely investigated in order to accommodate to the user traffic growing rapidly due to the spreads of tablet computers and various application services. Especially for that purpose, the utilization of higher frequency band above 10 GHz in which the wide band spectrum is expected to be available has been investigated actively. However, in the higher frequency bands, in addition to the higher propagation losses, it is thought that the influence of diffuse scattering will be more dominant in MIMO channel characteristic. Because the influence of diffuse scatter caused by the roughness of surfaces such as floors, walls, and ceilings becomes significant as the wavelength of radio wave decreases. Therefore the clarification and the modeling of diffuse scattering process in the higher frequency band becomes an important research topic in the 5G system. In this paper, the 11GHz band MIMO channel sounding was conducted in the LoS indoor environment to clarify the problem. The Specular Multipath Component (SMC) and the Dense Multipath Component (DMC) was estimated from the measured data by using SAGE algorithm and RiMAX algorithm. The results show that the DMC accounted for the 30% - 60% of the total received power. In the measurements, DMCs with high received power were observed, and it is thought that those came from the diffuse scatters from the floor and ceiling between the transmitter and the receiver. The results also show that the propagation parameters of DMC had significant correlations with the parameters of SMC not only in terms of the propagation delay but also the angular and polarization characteristics. |
