Experiments at several load currents have been carried out to clarify the various characteristics of AgNi contacts with only make arc, such as arc duration time, bounce time, arc energy, contact resistance and electrode mass change.
The voltage is set to DC100V constant, closed contacts currents are changed from 10A to 30A when only a make arc occurs. Electromagnetic contactor is operated 20,000 times. As a result, the closed contacts current didn’t affect the arc duration time and bounce times were short. Therefore the arc energy was increased by a current, but the contact resistance slightly decreased. |
