The partially parallel-feeding traveling-wave waveguide slot array has an advantage to reduce the frequency dependence of radiation patterns and obtains broadband characteristics. However, the bandwidth of the reflection characteristic of each radiating element with a post is narrow. Then, the partially parallel-feeding travelling-wave array using waveguide narrow-wall cavity slot on iris is proposed to extend the bandwidth of the radiating element. Consequently, the bandwidth of the reflection characteristic and the gain of the entire array becomes wide. 24-element two-line waveguide slot array antenna is designed in the millimeter-wave band. The slots with cavity are cut on the iris of the narrow-wall of the hollow waveguide. The -20dB-bandwidth of the reflection characteristic of each single element was over 7GHz. The bandwidth of reflection lower than -20dB of the entire array was 4.3GHz in contrast to the conventional antenna 0.8GHz. The gain of the broadside direction was higher than 15dBi from 72.0-86.6GHz and peak gain was 20.7dBi. |
