Development of high quantum efficiency superconducting transition edge sensor with self-alignment structure for optical fiber

(in English) An optical alignment method between an optical fiber and a single photon detector within a few microns is required to achieve the high detection efficiency for the single photon. However, the present method is difficult to realize large-scale array and mass production of the detector because much time is necessary for highly precise coupling the optical fiber onto the detector. Then, we proposed high quantum efficiency superconducting transition edge sensor with self-alignment structure for optical fiber using the silicon deep reactive-ion etching, and tried to improve this coupling. In this paper, we report on the production of this detector and results of the coupling on the optical fiber.
