An estimation of third order PIM using one continuous wave

(in English) This paper presents an estimation method for a third order passive intermodulation distortion (PIM) using one continuous wave signal (CW) in order to simplify the measurement system of the PIM. In the estimation method, the PIM is calculated from the third order harmonics that is an output signal of the device under test (DUT) when the CW at a fundamental frequency is input to the DUT. This paper also introduces a measurement system for the method and a circuit to eliminate the signal at the fundamental frequency and to pick up the third order harmonics. The validity of the method is discussed through the measurement results of passive components, co-axial cables.
