We have been developing an energy-efficient optical packet and circuit integrated switch-node to provide service diversity on common infrastructure. In this paper, we report a newly developed integrated optical packet and circuit switch-node. Burst-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifiers with optical feedback and electro-absorption optical switches are installed in the switch-node. We demonstrated optical fiber transmission and switching of multiplexed 10Gbps OOK optical paths, 100 Gbps DP-QPSK optical paths, 100 Gbps OOK optical packets encapsulating Ethernet frames, and 100 Gbps DP-QPSK optical packets on the testbed. Error-free (frame error rate < 1E-4) operation was achieved. Successful multi-format optical packet and circuit switching was confirmed. |
