Wireless Security Schemes using Random Phases for MISO-OFDM Communications

(in English) This report proposes new physical-layer security schemes for multiple-input single-output (MISO)-OFDM wireless communications. As a conventional scheme, the artificial noise (AN) method assumes that channel state information (CSI) is known to a transmitter, and sends AN plus desired signals from multiple transmit antennas so that the desired signals can be correctly received by not an eavesdropper but a legitimate user. However, the AN scheme has a major drawback that it requires a large amount of transmit power owing to AN. To cope with such a problem, the proposed scheme does not transmit AN. Instead of AN, it randomly changes phases of the transmitted signals, and controls amplitudes of the transmitted signals so that transmit power can be minimized under the constraint that the legitimate user should correctly receive the desired signals. To improve secrecy rate of the proposed scheme furthermore, the amplitudes are also controlled so that the transmit power can reach the allowable maximum power under the above constraint. Computer simulations under frequency selective fading conditions with OFDM subcarrier modulation being 16QAM show that the proposed schemes can degrade bit error rate (BER) of the eavesdropper and improve the secrecy rate more than the AN method while reducing the transmit power more drastically than AN.
