Evaluation of Subcarrier-Selected Short Preamble for OFDM Wireless Control Systems

(in English) In wireless control systems where payloads are small, preambles are considered as significant overheads. In order to reduce the overhead, we propose a subcarrier-selected short preamble (SSSP) for OFDM wireless control system. In addition, a joint time-frequency channel estimation scheme is introduced to maintain the channel estimation quality of SSSP. The feasibility of the proposed method is validated by evaluating the channel estimation error as well as the symbol error rate (SER) in various wireless channel conditions. Simulation results show that the proposed half-length SSSP can achieve the similar SER of 0.1% to that of full-length preambles under fast-fading multipath channels with rms delay spread less than 275 ns and maximum Doppler frequency less than 400 Hz, when the preamble transmission period is 1 ms.
