| (in English) | Recently, BCI (brain-computer interface) which extracts and detects the information related to the intention of users from biosignals originated from brain activities, has attracted interests. However in general, the realization of BCI is not so easy because the brain signal is very weak and it contains various noises and artifacts. On the other hand, it is also well known that the eye movements, e.g. eye blinking and eye gaze, are reflected in the mental states of humans. The author has been developing the eyewear (JINS MEME) which measures and analyzes electrooculogram (EOG) to detect user’s mental states in real time with JINS Co., Ltd. and Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer, Tohoku University. On the conventional method to measure EOG, the two voltage differences of upper and lower, right and left positions of eye ball are measured by using four electrodes placed on the face. In the present system, the method to measure the equivalent voltage components of EOG by using three electrodes located to the bridge and the left and right nose pads of the eyewear is developed and used. And the six-axis motion sensor (three-axis accelerometer and three-axis gyroscope) is mounted in the eyewear to measure the body motion. In this report, the outline of the JINS MEME is introduced and some possible applications are shown. | |
