Superchannels have high spectral efficiency thanks to the dense subcarrier spacing. One possible issue is the reachability limitation due to the nonlinear crosstalk in the center subcarriers induced by cross-phase modulation and four-wave mixing. We have already proposed a subcarrier power pre-emphasis method which has a lower fiber launched power of the edge subcarriers to mitigate the nonlinear crosstalk in the center subcarriers for the reachability extension. We experimentally demonstrate performance improvement for four-subcarrier DP-QPSK superchannel in dispersion uncompensated transmission for various transmission distances and guard bands. |
