Convolutional neural network (CNN) has attracted more and more attention for its remarkable performance in visual recognition. Particularly, it has been shown that features extracted from middle-level layers of CNNs trained with sufficiently large-scale object recognition datasets (typically the ImageNet) are highly generic and that they can be exploited in various domains. In this talk, we will review the history of CNN, and then introduce some case examples of CNNs utilized as a generic feature extractor, and transfer learning through fine-tuning. |
