A Performance Study on Throughput Prediction Method for Access Point over Multi-rate Wireless LAN environment

(in English) Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) based on IEEE 802.11 standard have been spreading rapidly. Here, the throughput prediction of an Access Point (AP) in the multi-rate environment (the amount of receipt data size including retransmission packets at AP) is one of important issues for the wireless network design, and it is important to solve AP placement problem and AP placement problem. To solve this issue, the authors have already proposed the throughput predicting method of AP considering the terminal distribution. Moreover, we have compared the predicted throughput of our proposed method with the one of previous work which can be performed using linear order computation, and confirmed the performance of our proposed method. However, this results do not show the effectiveness in realistic networks directly. In this paper, we compare the value of throughput which is obtained from the network simulator NS2 with the prediction value calculated by our method.
