For development of inductive coupling wireless power transfer (WPT) systems, it is important to consider a overall efficiency of the WPT systems, where the overall efficiency is expressed as the product of the transmission efficiency of transformer and the power-conversion efficiency of power converters. Additionally, there are mutual dependencies between magnetic-component parameters and power-converter ones. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out comprehensive designs of the WPT systems for maximizing the overall efficiency.
This paper presents a design method of inductively coupled WPT systems for maximizing the overall efficiency under specied physical conditions. By combining design equations of WPT system with the class-E switching converters and theoretical formulas of magnetic-component design, the WPT system for maximizing the overall efficiency can be designed. Circuit experiments showed the validity and usefulness of the proposed design method. |
