A study of Punctured Turbo Code system with Differential OOK in optical wireless communication

(in English) In this paper, a turbo code system for improving the reliability of the optical wireless communication is studied. In particular, the punctured turbo code system, which uses differential on-off keying (DOOK) as the modulation scheme, for the optical wireless communication is proposed. This system can reduce the influence of background noise by using the delay detection. The bit error rate (BER) performance are evaluated in the presence of background noise and scintillation as the optical wireless channel by computer simulation. The proposed system is compared with the punctured turbo coded OOK system, the standard turbo coded DOOK system, and the conventional DOOK system. In particular, it is shown that the proposed system is superior to the punctured turbo coded OOK system. Moreover, the proposed system outperforms the standard turbo coded OOK system.
