Recently in medical field, high intensity ultrasound fields have been used in many applications like cancer treatment, sonoporation to facilitate gene transfer, etc.. In industrial field, high intensity ultrasound fields are used for applications such as ultrasonic cleaners and ultrasonic dispersers, etc.. It is expected that calibration and evaluation of high intensity ultrasound fields will be needed more often. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an ultrasound source to transmit high intensity acoustic pressure by a plane wave, and to calibrate a hydrophone for measuring high intensity ultrasound field.
We would like to establish the technology to form the high intensity ultrasound field not only electrically but acoustically.
Therefore, we propose an ultrasound source system for generating and controlling a high intensity ultrasound field using acoustic waveguides, and spherical concave type piezoelectric transducer. This system can be used as a high-power ultrasound source for calibration of hydrophones. We considered the feasibility of our proposed system by using a two-dimensional acoustic field simulator. As results, it showed the possibility of generating high intensity ultrasound field acoustically. |
