Observation of a high visibility Hong-Ou-Mandel interference via a time-resolved coincidence measurement

(in English) We report on the observation of a high visibility Hong-Ou-Mandel~(HOM) interference between two photons by a high timing resolution coincidence measurement. Unlike the conventional pulsed excitation of the spontaneous parametric down conversion~(SPDC), two photons are prepared by heralding two photon pairs generated from SPDC pumped by continuous-wave laser. In our experiment, a periodically- poled lithium niobate waveguide was used as a nonlinear crystal and the photon pairs was sufficiently narrowed by interference filters with the central wavelengths 1541~nm and 1580~nm. We performed the measurement of HOM interference between the photons at 1541~nm heralded by the photon detection at 1580~nm with the superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors. The observed visibility of the HOM dip was 0.93 $pm$ 0.03.
