Multibeam-switching Millimeter-wave Electronic Beam-scanning Antenna using Multiple Microstrip Comb-line Antennas with Beam-tilting Design in Perpendicular Plane to Feeding-line

(in English) A beam-switching antenna which is composed of some independent antennas with different beam directions is one of the reasonable solutions of electronic beam-scanning antenna because of its simple feeding configuration. Microstrip comb-line antenna is capable to control the excitation phase of the radiating element by the connection point due to its traveling-wave operation. In the design of the beam tilting antenna in the perpendicular plane to the feeding line, the excitation phase of the elements are controlled not only by the feeding phase of the feeding line but also by the connection point of the element at the both sides on the feeding line. The effective element spacing becomes almost half, therefore, the grating lobe does not appear in beam-tilting. A five-beam switching planar antenna using five different microstrip comb-line antennas with different beams is proposed in this paper. The simulated performance is demonstrated in this paper.
