In this paper, an accuracy improvement of a conventional path loss model in an intersection of vehicle to vehicle communications (V2V) environment is studied. In the model, dominant paths of reflection and diffraction areas in the two-dimensional ray-tracing method are identified and the path loss is estimated by combing the dominant paths. It realizes a considerably simple estimation of path loss in comparison with the ray-tracing. On the other hand, in an actual three-dimensional environment where a ground reflection path is considered, the path loss characteristic becomes different from one in the two-dimensional environment since the ground reflection path interferes with the direct path. Therefore the model is insufficient when path loss in three-dimensional space is considered. To realize more precise estimation of the path loss, we apply the idea of the two-ray ground reflection path model to every path which is calculated by the conventional path loss model in the two-dimensional environment. Additionally, constraints assumed for a simplification in the conventional path loss model are removed. Combining these modifications to the conventional path loss model, we present a modified path loss model close to the ray-tracing method in a three dimensional space. Path loss calculated by the proposed model is compared with those by the ray-tracing method and the estimation accuracy of the proposed model is evaluated. |
