Path analysis method of anonymous communication system Tor

(in English) Anonymous communication system looks effective for the privacy protection because it could assure anonymity of path from source to destination. Tor (The Onion Router) is a representative anonymous communication system. Cyber-attack cases have been reported where the attackers spoof innocent organizations/persons by using the path anonymity of Tor. Therefore, in order to solve the cyber-attack cases, it is required to establish some analysis methods and clarify the route/path of Tor communication urgently. Therefore, attack methods for Tor, have been also performed studies using the attack methods. So, this study constructed a verification environment that exposes Tor relay node on the Internet. And we propose a method to statistically identify the path of Tor, by analyzing the packets sent and received by Tor. Further we evaluate the proposed method and consider its effectiveness. The evaluation results demonstrate that the method can identify the path of Tor with a relatively good accuracy.
