“Multiplexing” is a key technology in the optical transmission systems. A wide variety of methods has been developed along with deployment of both analog and digital transmission systems. This paper summarizes the multiplexing technology in the digital transmission system, especially technical study items and solutions are reviewed in the viewpoint of implementation for the optical transmission systems using time-division-multiplexing. At last, future direction of optical transmission systems are mentioned in the viewpoint of the multiplexing technology and the network management technology. |
