Recently, radio access technologies for the fifth generation (5G) in higher frequency bands have been extensively studied. A Massive-MIMO system is one of the promising technologies to improve spectral efficiency. This report introduces proposed analog-beamforming MIMO (APAA-MIMO) technologies with active phased array antenna (APAA) and digital MIMO processing for the multi-beam multiplexing. Furthermore, the authors acquire the system throughput results achieved by applying the cluster-channel model obtained through outdoor experiments using APAA in 44GHz band , and show the potential of the proposed multi-beam multiplexing technologies as a 5G base station. |
